Difficulty: Easy+
Distance (total): 5 to 8 km
Dates: All year round
Duration: Half a day
Type: Private outing
Points of interest: Casa de Piedra Bridge, Water sources, Casa de Piedra Canyon, Waterfall, Tambo Báez, Canyon, and "Playita" (little beach).

The trailhead is at the Casa de Piedra stream, which passes through the area known as Támbo Báez.

A short hike in the Casa de Piedra stream area where we can identify the native and exotic flora of the region with the company of the noisy and constant waterfalls in the area. You’ll experience wonderful landscapes within a magical and natural forest that will give you a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.

Depending on your physical condition and your desire for adventure, we can choose trails with varying technical difficulty to ensure a fully enjoyable experience.

There are two distinct areas in terms of trees. In the area near the stream, we will find tall, evergreen coihues and some ñires. In a drier part, we will encounter native trees such as cypress, radal, maitén, and some pines and apple trees planted by settlers.

The trails are narrow and rugged, with canes decorating the area trying to block our way. The path is undulating, with little elevation change, and there are small hills that we will need to overcome slowly with the help of trekking poles.

We will observe the various waterfalls and how they flow downstream. Do you know where the water ends up? During the outing, we will explain the entire cycle through the different seasons of the year.

There will also be open areas with incredible views, perfect for resting and appreciating the vastness of Nahuel Huapi National Park.

In addition to the trees, we will find many colihue canes and shrubs such as calafate, michay, and canelo. Among the flowers, you may see amancay, mutisia, reina mora, and orchids depending on the time of year.

For most of the route, we will be sheltered by the forest, so we won’t feel the wind or the sun. When we reach the viewpoints, it will be the perfect time to feel the cold, pure Patagonian wind on our face. We will also cross some rocky sections where we will need to walk carefully.

Regarding the fauna, we might see and hear various small birds, and with a bit of luck, a condor or woodpecker. This is also the home of the red fox, pajonal cats, and smaller animals like hares or lizards.

On this outing, we will have beautiful views of the Catedral, Otto, Bella Vista mountains, and Lake Nahuel Huapi and its islands.
